The wild cry of the dark-red sea

echoes to the ends of the Earth

past restless birds, perched on bare branches

and coloured, speckled, mountains and cliffs

till there is no more sound

no more sights to see,

only the memory of something fading from the mind.

Now Renewed

Now,

disturbance from afar

interference enters me.

Pause the confusion

Establish restitution

everything softens

Now, a new now

the disturbance doesn't

the interference fades

rehabilitated

everything soft

quiet reigns

The Lost Jigsaw Piece

I found a single piece

of a jigsaw

underneath the television cabinet

I had no idea to what jigsaw it belonged.

We have some old ones in the loft

and it wasn't from one of those.

Most that we have done

have long since been gifted to charity shops.

So what to do with this solitary lonely piece?

I'll keep it, adopt it, ensure it feels valued.

It'll remind me of others who have been lost,

others whom I have  lost,

and moments when I feel lost.

that once loved you most

left the home that once held you

in its embrace?

have you frozen?

in the icy waters

of uncertainty?

in the chaos of despair?

in the poison

of bitterness?

have you slept?

through the wars and now found peace?

through the worst and now know best?

have you fallen

and now feel redeemed?
